Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and community service. First family: he's the youngest of nine children born to Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. Second football he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. In his three years as Oklahoma's main linebacker and the team went three-and-a-half and won two championships. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship, and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in the field of education. Fourth year of college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week in volunteer projects. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Also, he began a career in the field of business. In 1988, he joined the ranks of an account liaison officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no doubt that it was a surprise to hear that he was voted one of the most distinguished young men across the United States by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in his height and weighed 256 lbs as a college player he played for the 1975 team. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 handed out its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
