Reese Witherspoon

Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born March 22, 1976. She has received many accolades, including an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in the years 2006 and 2015 and Forbes included her in the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in the years 2019 and 2021. In 2021, Forbes named her the world's most successful actress, with an estimated total worth of $400 million.Witherspoon began her acting career at the age of a teenager, making her film debut with The Man in the Moon (1991). Her breakout came in 1999 with her role as a support in Cruel Intentions as well as her portrayal of Tracy Flick in the black comedy Election. Her parts in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) as well as in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) have earned her more attention. Her work was critically acclaimed, and she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress in the role of June Carter Cash, in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a downturn in her career in which Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box office success, Witherspoon decided to make a comeback and produce and star as Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). The film earned her a second Academy Award nomination in the category of Best Actress. Since then, she's been working mostly in the field of television, producing and starring in several female-led adaptations of literary works under her company Hello Sunshine. This includes Big Little Lies, an HBO drama series (2017-2019), The Morning Show, the Apple TV+ drama series (2019-present) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020). She was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Limited Series for the first one. She also produced the adaptations to film of Gone Girl (2014) as well as Where the Crawdads Sing (1922). Witherspoon also owns Draper James, a clothing company, and is involved in advocacy groups for children and women. She is on the board of directors for the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) and was appointed Global Ambassador of Avon Products in 2007, being the honorary chair of the foundation.
